Leonard/Saltzman Cancer Research Lab
Work in the laboratory is currently focused on determining the optimal strain of genetically engineered bacteria to move into human clinical trials. Once experiments to determine the optimally engineered bacteria are completed, we will determine the optimal dosing of our therapy in the new cancer model. These experiments will provide the data needed to request permission from the Food and Drug Administration to test this therapy in human clinical trials.
Arnold S. Leonard, M.D., Ph.D. Endowed Lectureship
Dr. Leonard presented “A Trek Through Surgical Academia” to the University of Minnesota Department of Pediatric Surgery Doctors and Residents in May. Dr Leonard was well received and it was fun to see him (briefly) back in the saddle of his Professor of Surgery role!
Funding the Cancer Research Lab
We need $25,000 more in contributions this year to reach our goal of $125,000 to fund the cancer research lab for 2023. Thank you to everyone who has already donated in 2022 including our partner sponsors! Dr. Leonard personally takes care of all our overhead expenses which allows 100% of funds that are donated to go directly to the cancer research lab. Thank you Dr. Leonard!
Corporate Sponsorships
Corporate Sponsorships are available now for the 2023 cancer shoot. Sponsorships range from $500 to $10,000 and each comes with sponsor benefits.
Phi Kappa Psi Fundraiser
In October, Phi Kappa Psi is hosting a pumpkin carve fundraiser to benefit Dr. Leonard’s Cancer Research Fund. They have raised over $31,000 over the past six years with matching funds taking that total to over $62,000!
Doc’s Cancer Shootout 2023
April 20th, 2023 is Doc’s Cancer Shootout at the Minnesota Horse and Hunt Club. This is our primary fundraiser each year, and we hope you can join us for the day or for the evening dinner/auctions/raffles portion of the fundraiser.
We are currently looking for in-kind donations of products, services, and gift cards to raise funds with our auctions and raffles.
